I don’t know about you, but I cry way more easily since becoming a mom. Of course, initially, I blamed this on pregnancy then new mom hormones. But over seven years later, I think it’s safe to say those hormones have worn off and it’s just straight up “being a mom makes me more emotional”.
Good luck getting through any of these books without tearing up.
On The Night You Were Born– This is the first book I ever read to my son. Celebrates the one and only ever you.
Love You Through and Through– “I love your hair and eyes. Your giggles and cries.” Even my husband has to “shake it off” after reading this one.
Wish You More– My four year old daughter brought this home from the school library the other day. She laughed at me for crying. This actually did make me laugh in return which saved some Kleenex.
Love You Forever “I’ll love you forever. My baby you’ll be”. Ok I cannot even type this without feeling tears forming.
How Do I Love You– This might be the easiest one of the bunch to get through without crying but if the mood strikes it right, there I go.
Grandma Wishes– “When I made my wish on the Grandma star, I made my wish for you.” Now you and your mom and your mom in law can all cry reading this one.
Thank You, God, For Grandma– Why stop at Grandma Wishes? Continue with this one too.
The Giving Tree– This is a classic you likely read as a child or had read to you. Teaches generosity and selflessness.
Someday– As a mom, I constantly think about my kids leaving the house someday. It’s so bittersweet. This book captures that causing more tears from me.
If I Could Keep You Little- Just the title of this one kills me. “If I could keep you little, I’d keep you close to me. But then I’d miss you growing into who you’re meant to be!”
There are other books that I can recall reading in elementary school that made my mom and I cry. Books like “Where The Red Fern Grows” and “Little House On The Prairie”. If I cry at children’s board books, I am just bracing myself for what is ahead with the sad chapter books.
