Oh, you guys! Where do I even start? Saturday night was such a thrill for me! 25 of you won backstage paces to meet the ladies of Casting Crowns and can I just say that YOU, the readers of allmomdoes are beautiful souls! To enter the backstage pass, you answered “what does being a mom mean to you?”
As we all waited to start the event we heard some of your answers. One of you said that “being a mom means being there for your kids, unlike my mom was able to.” Right then, a feeling of genuine transparency came over the room. Another one of you shared that being a mom means “extending fresh grace everyday, just like God does for us.”
Seriously, you guys! You are amazing! I loved shaking your hands and putting faces to names. And, I can’t wait to meet more of you. I’m convinced that this Seattle area is full of amazing women!
The women of Casting Crowns were down to earth and super sweet. My biggest takeaway from what they shared is that before their jobs, before all of the craziness that comes from being in the spotlight, it’s ALL about FIRST having a relationship with God and then second, being present with family. Hard one, isn’t it?
Megan shared that just before joining us, she’d been lying down, holding her 1 year old. On the road, they homeschool and do family devotions. They have laundry. Their kids get sick during the night – ON THE BUS! They are just as real as you and I.
After our meet and greet, we had a little time for Q&A. Can I just say how impressed I was with those of you who piped up and asked some great questions?
Of course, the concert was incredible. Really, I don’t have adequate words to describe it. All I can say is that if you weren’t there, please join us for the next event like this! These types of events are the perfect thing to get refreshed and have your perspective renewed. I think from time to time, we all go through seasons where the heaviness of life drags us down. Concerts like this are like the best exfoliator. You leave feeling like the old, dry, icky stuff is gone and all of the good stuff is visible again.
I arrived home from the concert late Saturday night and was greeted by a little “I love you Mama” note, that my 5 year old had taped where he knew I’d see it. Can I just tell you guys, that those little things are what matter the most? The Casting Crowns ladies shared about how BIG it is to be a Mama and I couldn’t agree with them more.
Sometimes we all want to be out there, doing big things, but it’s the little moments that no one sees that matter the most. The books we read with our kids, the smiles. The simple, ordinary things, all add up to one big, great thing.
So, as you go into your week, do the little things with great pride and do them well. And a big thank you to those of you who joined us at this fun event. If you weren’t there, I DO hope that you can come next time!
