“If you have a passion for something, go for it. Never let anybody tell you that you can’t do something….Never be afraid to be a poppy in a field of daffodils, because that’s the only way you can make it.” -Michaela DePrince
I don’t know how adoption has impacted your life, but I wish we could sit and chat about it. I like to talk deep with people and learn about their backgrounds and dreams. Maybe you’ve had the outside view of adoption- the perspective of someone looking in, watching a close friend or family member make that brave and life changing decision for a child. Or maybe, when you think of the word “adoption”, it’s painful. Your story might be bigger than I could ever imagine. If the word “adoption” stings for you, I wish I could give you a big squeeze and make you believe that you are chosen, that you were created with a purpose. Maybe the word adoption is a word that strikes up feelings of possibility in your heart. Maybe it makes you get that tingly nervous feeling, you know that feeling that happens right before something big and good takes place. Maybe it’s a chapter in the story of your family that you’re considering opening. Or maybe you’re in the middle of it right now and it’s bigger, better and 100 times more complicated and heart wrenching than you ever dreamed it would be.
Today I’m sharing a little video with you that I just can’t keep to myself. When I hit the triangle “play” button on this video, I was folding laundry at our dining room table. I wasn’t expecting that moments later, I’d have full body goosebumps and that I’d feel like I had to share it with you all.
This is the story of a girl who was last on the list. In her orphanage, she was literally known as the “child of the devil”. Her story is one that shows how anyone can rise from nothing and with incredible persistence, become who they want to be. Take a look.
