My kids had an entire week off of school for mid-winter break. An. Entire. Week. It wasn’t in the cards for us to venture off on a vacation so my planning for what to do with them consisted of day camps in our area and my husband and I each taking a day or two of vacation to stay home with them. I will admit, I had a bit of mom guilt that I was going to be working during their break and not doing anything special with them. That is, until I was given the opportunity to stay for a night at The Westin in Seattle. Just knowing we were going to get to do something fun got the kids and I so excited for the day to come.
I was given a free stay at The Westin – Seattle in exchange for my honest opinion on my experience. You can enjoy a stay for a special SPIRIT rate of $105.30 – grab your exclusive deal here!
When the workday finally ended, I raced to pick up the kids and off we went into Seattle for our staycation at The Westin. The short drive there was full of excitement and talking about the adventure ahead. When we arrived and checked in, the kids were immediately thrilled to discover The Westin is kid friendly!
This bowling set was set up right as we entered the room. Phew, we were off to a good start!
The Westin also graciously left myself and the kids some fun goodies including wine, lotion and face scrub for me and chocolate, gummy bears and stuffed animals for each of them. Less than an hour in and we were all three convinced this was the greatest hotel ever.
Off for some Seattle adventure. The Westin is located near tons of attractions. Despite us only living about 25 minutes away, we rarely get out this way. It really did feel like a vacation. Right in our own backyard.
In effort to get their remaining energy out, off to the pool we went. In our opinion, a pool is a necessity of any staycation or vacation. The pool at The Westin did not disappoint. I even let them convince me to cannon ball in a couple of times.
As a lover of all things fitness, I was also excited to see The Westin has an amazing fitness studio featuring Peloton equipment. This is a current fitness craze with guided workouts with a coach all via your workout machine. My next stay at The Westin, I have decided, might be kid free so I can enjoy some of these amenities.
No vacation is complete without some relaxation time. Once back to the room, I poured myself a glass of wine as we all took our time getting ready for dinner.
We dined at Relish, the Burger Bistro located right in the lobby of The Westin. This is a perfect spot for a date night or a night with kids. I had a yummy salmon entrée and a signature Relish cocktail while the kids dined on mac & cheese and a cheeseburger with fries.
One of my favorite parts of this experience was the amazing view the room offered. Enjoying something that magnificent all in the comfort of my sweatpants was something I won’t take for granted. The kids of course had to show their Westin stuffed animals the view as well.
As the day wound down and we cuddled up for some tv in bed, the kids told me what an awesome time they had. It really was one of the best days we have had.
The next morning we woke up and truly enjoyed lounging around with some room service. I drank an entire cup of coffee sitting propped up in bed while the kids cuddled up with me watching tv. Pretty different than the normal mornings of scrambling to find shoes and coats as you race out the door and realize 10 minutes into the drive you left your commuter cup of coffee on the counter at home.
It is amazing the memories you can make in just one afternoon and evening. The Westin Seattle gave my kids and I the opportunity for a fun filled afternoon, quality time, relaxation and memories we will forever hold on to.
