Summer means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but if you’re like me, it means iced coffees and ice cream treats! Because, really, what better way to cool off? (And, please don’t say “water”).
But, recently I’ve been diagnosed with some new health issues and they’re affecting my heart, kidneys, eyesight, hearing, and pretty much all of this earth suit I was loaned. I now need to completely change how I eat and what I eat.
So, I’ve been doing research. Did you know that a McFlurry can have 803 calories? Eight hundred and three! And, a Wendy’s Frosty comes in at almost 400 calories (these are both for 16 ounce sizes).
Yikes!
Still, who wants to live on kale and flaxseed alone? Sadly, not me. So, I’m going to share a copycat recipe for a “frosty-like” drink that is way better for you while still being delicious!
COPYCAT WENDY’S FROSTY RECIPE
- 1 cup of skim milk or unsweetened almond milk
- 2 Tablespoons of sugar-free, fat-free chocolate pudding mix
- 1 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 2-3 packets of stevia
- About 7-10 ice cubes
- 2 Tablespoons of Cool Whip (optional)
Place it all in a blender and blend until the ice is chopped and everything is well blended. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
And, here’s the real kicker: it only has 66 calories, .4 grams of fat and 14.3 grams of carbs. That’s a win, win, and win in my book.
With these kinds of changes I can have my cake and eat it too (or, in this case, my Frosty!).
