Memorial Day is about remembering those who sacrificed their lives in service. As you talk with your kids about this on Memorial Day, here are a few ways you can remember those who have given everything.
Wear a poppy. This is a tradition that shows remembrance on Memorial Day. I generally see them being handed out at grocery stores.
Create a poppy craft with your kids using coffee filters.
Decorate with flags. I often see flags being given to kids out at stores Memorial Day weekend. Decorate with flags around your house. if you have a flag pole, you can also fly the flag at half-staff from dawn until noon local time.
Put flags or flowers on the graves of men and women who served in wars. Maybe you have a family member you visit each year. Take a moment to pause.
Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance. This is a national event and you can find out all about it from the official Memorial Day Website.
This Memorial Day, I hope you’ll take a moment to pray for the families of those who have died in service to our country. Keep the spirit of remembrance alive as we honor the ideals and values those brave fallen heroes stood for and died defending. Also, pray for safety for those currently serving in our military that are in harm’s way.
