My parents have a mango tree in their yard in Florida. When the season rolls around, 10-15 mangoes fall off of it per day. Friends, that’s a lot of mangoes. Of course, we’ve been doing all the normal things you’d do to use up crazy amounts of mangoes: Giving them away. Canning them. Dehydrating them. Making mango salsa. Making and canning mango jam. Freezing them for smoothies.
Even with all that, we’ve barely made a dent and the number of mangoes in the pile to be processed gets bigger every day. So after all that work, I decided it was time to have some FUN and come up with a few mango cocktails (along with their virgin counterparts for the kids).
Here are my favorites!

A quick note – Mangoes are difficult to juice due to the texture of their flesh. To make things easier, most of these recipes call for a combination of mango puree and water or soda water in place of the juice that is used in traditional recipes. If you don’t have fresh mango readily available, you can substitute mango nectar (very affordable and available through this Amazon link or in your grocery store’s juice section) but you may need to reduce the amount of soda or water to prevent your final cocktail from being too diluted. Mango puree can be made by simply processing ripe mango in your food processor to a smooth consistency. If your mango isn’t very sweet, you can make a sweeter puree by heating 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar, and 2 cups mango puree on the stove for 5 minutes. Of course, using mango puree vs. mango juice yields a thicker, more “pulp-y” drink so be aware if that’s a texture you don’t enjoy.
Mango Cooler
- 2 oz vodka
- 2 oz mango puree
- 1/2 oz triple sec
- lime soda water
Fill a glass with ice and mix together the vodka, mango, and triple sec. Add lime soda water; amount will vary based on personal preference.
Non-alcoholic version
- 2 oz mango puree
- Sprite
- lime soda water (optional)
Fill a glass with ice and stir together mango and sprite. Add lime soda water to cut sweetness (optional). This will look identical to the adult version so the kids will feel like they’re getting a super special treat!
Mango Margarita
I’m an on-the-rocks kind of girl, but you could make this blended using frozen mango chunks. The kids’ version is blended because, let’s be honest, they’ll love the fun presentation. These freezable stemless margarita glasses would be perfect for this drink; the drinks stay cold and it’s much less likely to fall over!
- 1 1/2 oz. tequila
- 1/2 oz. triple sec
- 1 oz. mango puree (1/2 c. frozen mango chunks for blended version)
- 1 oz. lime juice
- 2 Tb. sugar or agave (for blended version only)
- 1 oz lime soda water (for rocks version)
Salt (or sugar, based on your preference) rim of glass. Fill glass with ice; mix together the remaining ingredients. Add lime soda water to taste. For the blended version, combine all ingredients in a blender with 1 cup ice.
Non-alcoholic version
- 1/2 c. frozen mango chunks
- 1/4 c. lime juice
- 1/4 c. sprite
- 1 c. ice
Combine all ingredients in a blender; pour into a glass with sugared rim.
Mango Sunrise
The layers of color in this drink are beautiful – hurricane glasses would show them off perfectly.
- 2 oz. tequila
- 3 oz. mango puree
- 3 oz. water
- 3/4 oz. grenadine
Mix together mango puree and water in a glass. Add tequila, then drizzle grenadine.
Non-alcoholic version
- 3 oz. mango puree
- 3 oz. water
- 3/4 oz. grenadine (Most grenadines are completely non-alcoholic as they are just fruit syrup. However, some select versions do have a small alcohol content. Make sure to check your label if serving to kids.)
Mix together mango puree and water in a glass. Slowly pour grenadine over the top.
Mango Bahama Mama
This classic taste of the tropics has a great new twist – mango! Serve them in the same hurricane glasses from above.
- 2 oz. dark rum
- 1 oz. coconut rum
- 1 oz. lime juice
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- 2 oz. mango puree
- 2 oz. water
- splash of grenadine
Fill a glass with ice. Add all ingredients; stir to combine.
Non-alcoholic version
- 2 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 oz. lime juice
- 2 oz. mango puree
- 4 oz. Sprite
- splash of grenadine (Most grenadines are completely non-alcoholic as they are just fruit syrup. However, some select versions do have a small alcohol content. Make sure to check your label if serving to kids.)
Combine all ingredients in a tall glass with ice.
Mango Bellini
Bellinis are similar to mimosas in that they both are made with champagne, but bellinis use fruit puree instead of juice. Because of this, a bellini is the perfect use of our mango puree! And since I love stemless drinkware, these flutes are my pick.
- 4 oz. champagne or prosecco
- 1 oz. vodka (try a fun berry-flavored variety!)
- 1 oz. mango puree
Add vodka and mango puree to champagne flute. Carefully pour champagne into glass.
Non-alcoholic version
- 4 oz. sparkling white grape juice
- 2 oz. mango puree
Add mango puree to champagne flute. Add sparkling white grape juice.
