This weekend, my friend Ashley had a brilliant idea. She said it was sparked from her own mother, and because of this project (see these beautiful photos!) Ashley says her emotional health might be secure a bit longer 😉
Here are Ashley’s words and photos:
This weekend I took toilet paper rolls and cut them in half, covered and lined in cute paper, filled with a little rice, then made flower sticks for all the things that drain me of emotional energy (having to speak them over and over).
If they can successfully transfer all the flowers from “to do” to “complete” they get 1 hour of screens and $1.00 per day. Their monthly allowance will now be about $30.00 and they will have pride for being independent and taking care of what drives me crazy.
I’ve also included some items that will improve their emotional health and happiness.
Here’s what’s on the sticks:
Brush your teeth, take vitamins, empty dishwasher, think or say something out loud that you love about yourself, find snack wrappers and throw away, tell your brother/sister something you love about them, find something that is out of place and put it away, bring dishes downstairs and put in dishwasher, read for 30 minutes, write mom a note that includes one thing you are grateful for, eat lunch, and finally, pick one: vacuum, dust, garbage, recycling, wipe counters, wipe floors, or fold and put away laundry. 💐
The kids love them and are excited to have me off their backs. Win win.
Isn’t that great? What would you add to the sticks?
