You’ve probably seen all the commercials because they are everywhere. If you sign up for Rakuten (formerly eBates) you will get a bunch of cash back. So, is it true? Is it hard? Let’s find out. Here’s my experience.
#1 – Is it hard to sign up?
It is in fact very easy to sign up. You go to rakuten.com, create an account and voila you are ready. I personally added the plugin to my browser so that I would be reminded when I shop online to use Rakuten because it’s not something that I would necessarily remember to do. You can use my referral link and it appears that you’ll get $40 once you spend $40! Not sure how long that lasts, but a pretty good deal for testing it out!
#2 – Do the stores I normally shop at work with Rakuten?
I am an Amazon Prime girl, and I also do all of my grocery shopping online every week for pickup. So, Kroger is on Rakuten, which is associated with Fred Meyer so that worked for my grocery shopping. Also, I did some Christmas shopping with Target, Walmart and Kohl’s – all included but Amazon not so much that I can see. It appears as if most of my things are on here so I’m excited to give this a try.
#3 -Does it take a lot of work?
No work. Once you login and then add the browser button it just tells you when a site you are shopping at has cash back that can be activated. You click the button and just shop like normal.
#4 – Do you actually get a lot of money back?
I think this depends, however after using it for my shopping at Kroger, Old Navy, Target and Kohl’s I just got an e-mail saying I was getting a check for $13.20. Basically free money that I didn’t do any work for since I was already shopping online for Christmas. Pretty good I’d say. It at least pays for a couple coffee trips!
#5 – Would I recommend it?
I would. You get money back pretty easily, the browser notification makes it a breeze and I am on board for free money. Give it a go or if you already use it let me know what you think! I shop a LOT online so if you are the same, it could be a great way to get a few extra bucks in the mail!
Sign up, use my referral link if you want and have fun shopping!
