We had our windows replaced in the Fall of 2018. Prior to our windows being replaced I pulled our average heating costs for the winter months since those are the coldest times.

The weather affects things of course, and I know that last year Jan 2019 was a very cold, snowy one around here so we had higher costs that year than the year before. We were home more often on snow days with the kids. Interestingly, we are home all the time now and the cost is so much lower this December than last December.
In this look at my heating costs I would definitely say if the reason you are looking to replace windows or do attic insulation is to save on heating costs, the clear winner would be attic insulation when it comes to savings! We love our new windows and they look much nicer than the old, aluminum ones, but the numbers don’t lie. Do both of these projects work together? Yep, absolutely! We are glad we’ve budgeted to do both because it has made a big difference for us. We were also able to get energy rebates on both so make sure that you look into that when making a decision as well.
