To the mom on the battlefield with a strong-willed child. I am here for you today.
This is not a blog with any advice. I have zero advice on this topic because I’m in the pit of it with you right now. Instead, I want to make sure that someone is speaking hope into your life.
I get a lot of advice about raising my strong-willed child. Sometimes I want it. Sometimes I don’t. I’m sure you feel the same.
My strong-willed child brings me to the very edge of myself almost daily and mostly I hear about how I should keep standing my ground, or keep enforcing the rules or establishing boundaries. All that is well and good and right.
However, what I really need is for someone to just remind me that it’s going to turn out okay.
Momma in the trenches with a strong-willed child, I want these affirmations to rain over you today!
- Momma, you are doing a good job. Keep going.
- I know sometimes you need to let go of the fight. It’s okay.
- I know sometimes you lose the battle because you are simply too tired. It’s okay.
- I know sometimes you wonder what in the world God is trying to teach you through fight after fight after fight. It’s okay. He is by your side.
- I know you worry that you are doing everything wrong. You aren’t.
Momma, in the trenches with a strong-willed child I want you to know that you can do this. Don’t give up. Tomorrow is a new day.
Momma in the trenches I am right there with you. You aren’t alone. Keep showing up. It will be worth it.
Hang in there.
Oh, and yes, the bathroom is a perfectly good place to hide if you need a break. I suggest stashing a bag of chocolate in there too that no one can find.
