“Bored in the house and in the house bored.” These song lyrics became our household theme early into the pandemic. Modified lockdown brought a weird combination of anxiety, stress but also just pure boredom as we suddenly spent more time in our houses than some of us were used to or comfortable with.
I don’t do well with down time so the initial shock of lockdown was really hard on me. I quickly decided I would utilize some of that time on things like deep cleaning and organizing. Before you roll your eyes, keep in mind this is actually considered a stress behavior and I coupled it with comfort eating and drinking more often than was usual for me. Not good things. But we all did what we had to do to just survive on many of the days.
One of the things that has stuck for over a year now has been my obsession with neatly folding things like towels. Once you learn a few ways that work for your household, it’s super easy to maintain and honestly just brings me so much joy when I open the linen closet and there are the towels just perfectly folded. Or when I can actually see my t-shirts in a drawer versus having them loosely folded and piled up. Folding in certain ways is a huge space saver and so easy on the eyes.
Check out this video for a few super easy ways to fold towels. It literally takes seconds. I would love to hear any tips you have!
