We are sharing a series of blogs focused specifically on praying over the new school year. For the next 10 days we will be praying over parents, teachers, administrators, support staff and students. Please share your prayer in the comments or join us on Facebook to post your prayer there!
Father God,
As we enter a new school year, we eagerly and humbly ask you to prepare our hearts. It has been over a year since we have had normalcy in the way we teach and learn, and we need your presence now more than ever.
Go with us, be alongside us, as we reenter our buildings and classrooms. Help us to see you and acknowledge your presence each day. May our hearts be filled with gratitude for the privilege of an education and returning to school. May we not grow blind to this gift and always see it as that.
Fill teachers’ hearts with empathy and compassion for all students, joy for the opportunity of impacting the lives of children, and thankfulness for the teaching skills you have given them.
Give our students a teachable spirit and a willingness to submit so that their minds are ready for learning. Help us make school and learning one of the ways we bring glory to you by giving our students the desire to do their best at school because they are working to please you, God.
When the work becomes challenging, I pray that our students will turn to you and ask you to walk alongside them, giving them the strength and perseverance to work through the challenges. Give our students opportunities, boldness, and clarity to share the hope of Jesus with their peers. Guard their hearts and minds; give them wisdom and discernment when they are exposed to lies that speak louder than your truth.
Help them to see when the enemy is at work; lead them to wise counsel. I pray that parents will be involved in the school and social lives of their children so that they will know when their children need their help.
Please, Lord, hear our prayer.
You are near to all who call on you in truth so may we call on you each and every day of this school year. In Christ’s name, Amen
