There is nothing better than an obscure holiday! There are no expectations, no gifts, just pure, crazy fun. And, summer is the perfect time for a little kookiness.
Check out these July “holidays”:
July 1 – Joke Day: Check joke books out from the library. Have everyone tell a joke at dinner. The funniest joke wins.
July 4 – Independence Day: Find fun ideas for the 4th at AllMomDoes like these: 5 Easy & Edible Independence Day Crafts
July 9 – Sugar Cookie Day: Yum! We have EASY recipes on AllMomDoes.
July 10 – Teddy Bear Picnic Day: Spread a blanket in the backyard and let the kids bring their bears outside for lunch!
July 15 – Gummi Worm Day: Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top of pudding cups and stick gummi worms in. Easy and fun.
July 16 – Corn Fritter Day: If you’ve never had one, they are amazing! I’m blessed to have a local restaurant that makes them, but it’s worth looking up a recipe and making your own.
July 17 – Yellow Pig Day: I’m very confused about this one. What’s the backstory? Who started it? So many questions!
July 18 – Caviar Day: You can find inexpensive caviar at the grocery store. Take pictures of your kids’ faces when they try a bite!
July 21 – Junk Food Day: Add in some chips with lunch or munch on candy while you watch a movie. A little junk food doesn’t hurt.
July 23 – Vanilla Ice Cream Day: Pour a little hot fudge on mine!
July 24 – Cousins’ Day: Gather the cousins for a day of fun and games! Extra points for matching tee shirts.
July 27 – Take Your Pants for a Walk Day: I think whoever started Yellow Pig Day thought this one up too!
July 28 – Milk Chocolate Day: Now this is my kind of holiday!
July 29 – Lasagna Day: Whether you go to an Italian restaurant or make your grandma’s recipe, this would be a fun day to celebrate.
July 30 – National Cheesecake Day: Yum. Have you ever eaten frozen cheesecake? Try it on a hot summer day.
July 31 – Uncommon Musical Instruments Day: Make instruments with the kids. Paper plate tambourines and oatmeal carton drums are the perfect start to a family band.
The next time your kids say they’re bored, pull out this list and celebrate one of these crazy “holidays”. And, Happy Summer from AllMomDoes!
