If you’re looking for a fun and easy fall craft, these little owls are great! There are so many options to decorate them and your kids will love painting with cotton balls and q-tips. They can be classic, wacky, big, or small! Enjoy making them your own and seeing what your little ones come up with!
What you need:
Clothes pins
Paper plates
Cotton balls
Q-tips
Heavy construction paper, assorted colors
Elmer’s Glue
Crayola finger paint(any craft paint works well)
Sequins(optional)
Popsicle sticks(optional)
Glitter(optional)
Steps:
Getting all of the materials out and ready took me about 10 minutes. If you are doing this craft with older kids, they can draw and cut out their own owls! I did this one with my preschooler so it was easier for me to do the prep work!
Draw your owl shape, eyes, beaks, and wings on the construction paper, cut them out. I folded it in half so I didn’t have to cut twice.
Choose your paint colors and put small amounts on the plate.
Grab a cotton ball with a clothes pin, dip in the paint, and stamp onto the owl. Or do the same with a q-tip!
Next, glue the wings, eyes, and beaks. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can have your kids add some glitter or sequins to the wings and body!
Once your owls are dry, you can glue them to a popsicle stick to make little puppets. They also look great taped to the window or glued onto a sheet of construction paper to be hung on the fridge. Whatever method works for you! I hope these cute little owls are a wonderful autumn activity for your kids!
