I recently purchased a pack of red bell peppers that were so delicious I just ate some of them whole!!! Wouldn’t it be great if I planted the seeds and enjoyed these peppers again and again? I remembered watching a short YouTube video on re-growing food from scraps so as per the video’s instructions, I wrapped the seeds in a moist paper towel and placed it in a ziplock bag for a week. When I checked on my plant babies, I found that they had sprouted. How exciting!!! I then planted them in an up-cycled egg carton and headed to YouTube for further instructions.
Seeing as I’m a novice when it comes to gardening, I really didn’t want to mess this up. I wanted to give these little sprouts the best possible conditions of adequate sunlight, water and fertile soils to take deep root in, grow strong, healthy and bear much fruit.
Matthew.13:23 “But the seed sown on good soil is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and produces a crop—a hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.”
Whatever season of life we’re in, God’s desire for us is that we flourish, bloom and grow, bearing good fruit. And as Jesus put it in the Gospels, we can only do this when we hear God’s Word by reading the Bible and when we understand what we have read so we can live it out. The Holy Spirit gives us understanding of God’s Word.
Maybe you’re a Stay-At-Home Mom who homeschools their children like me, or a new Mom learning and growing into the beautiful God ordained role of Motherhood.
Maybe you’re a working Mom holding down the fort both at home and in the workplace, or an empty nester rediscovering life at a slower pace.
Whatever of stage of life we currently find ourselves in, God has called and equipped us all not just to survive but to thrive!
The deep desire to see my little plants flourish where I’ve planted them points me to God’s desire for me to flourish where He has planted me.
2 Peter.1:3 “We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God’s own power, when we learned He had invited us to share in His wonderful goodness.” CEV
I find this empowering as I navigate through life. The knowledge that my creator has already given me all that I need, through His goodness and His own power, not my own, to live a life that brings Him glory and pleases Him.
It is with that faith that I break out of my comfort zone and do things I previously thought were impossible for me to do. It is with that faith that I take on the everyday tasks of motherhood, homemaking and life in general that often seem overwhelming and draining. He has called and equipped me to thrive. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah.29:11
