If you enjoy homemade cranberry sauce during the holiday season and you also enjoy make-ahead recipes, this one if for you! I found this Ina Garten recipe years ago and have made it every Thanksgiving since.
The apple and citrus zests add so much flavor, it will compliment any holiday meal! It’s also great on leftover turkey sandwiches. Our kids love helping out with the juicing and waiting to hear the cranberries pop. The best part is that it can be made up to 3 days in advance!
What is your family’s cranberry sauce tradition for the holidays? Whether you prefer homemade, jellied, or a bit of both, I hope you will love this recipe as much as we do!
Cranberry Sauce Medley
Ingredients:
One 12oz bag of fresh cranberries
1 3/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled and chopped
1 orange, zested and juiced
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1/2 cup dried cranberries
Directions:
In medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberries, sugar, and water. Cook, stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes or until skin starts to pop open.
While the cranberries cook, peel and chop the apple. Zest and juice the orange and lemon.
Combine all ingredients in the cranberry mixture. Cook on low to medium heat for another 15 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened and the apples are slightly soft.
Remove from heat and add dried cranberries. Stir well.
Let it cool, then refrigerate for up to 6 days.
Serve chilled.
