It was a few years ago, and we were still relatively new to our neighborhood. We’d just started getting to know our next door neighbors and one day, the sweet Mama (who now happens to be a great friend of mine) asked me if I could grab her “box of good” from her front door while her family was out of town. Of course I agreed, although I didn’t really know what she was talking about! All I knew was I liked her, I wanted to be a nice neighbor, she told me we could keep what was inside and this whole “box of good thing” sounded kind of exciting.
Sure enough, later in the week, a white van with the writing “Klesick Farms” drove up and a nice looking guy walked a box up to the front door. My kids want to be in on everything so of course, they raced over and grabbed the box.
We lifted the heavy box onto the counter and while opening it, I smelled what I can only describe as health. Life. Goodness.
Inside the box was some of the most gorgeous produce I’ve ever seen. Even better, it was all organic and it even came with recipes. As we enjoyed our sweet neighbors “box of good” during the week, I became fascinated with how much easier it is for me to prepare healthy food for my family when I have it right there, at my finger tips.
I’ve always been passionate about enjoying Motherhood and the more I feed my children food that truly nourishes their growing bodies, the more I feel content with the way I’m Mothering. As overwhelming as it can be sometimes, we have to remember what a gift it is to be able to choose how we feed our families.
