I have spring cleaning heavy on my mind lately. I love learning new cleaning hacks or recipes for concoctions that will make my glass shower doors shine. One thing that often gets way down on my list to clean is my car. As a mom who commutes most days to work and who has kids in sports, I spend countless hours in my car each week. Not only does my car get used to chauffer my kids and often their friends, it often gets used as a kitchen as my kids snack or sometimes eat meals on the go from one event to the other.
Muddy shoes, gross gym bags, wet towels and all sorts of food from home made to drive-thru; my car could always use a little TLC.
My nine-year-old daughter is obsessed with making slime and watching videos of people making slime. I find it so funny how kids find such entertainment in watching videos of things like toy unveiling and slime making. The other day when I was complaining about how gross my car is, my daughter mentioned she could make me slime that could get in the nooks and crannies of my car to clean it. I said, “wait, do you mean like the cleaning putty I have bought on Amazon?” About 30 minutes later, she proved it to me and we had made our first batch of DIY cleaning putty!
It’s basically or quite literally just slime. But my daughter thought it was so much fun she keeps going into the car to find more dust and crumbs to collect. She told all her friends that her mom let her make slime in the car so I now have a cleaner car and brownie points with the other fourth graders. I would absolutely recommend this as something fun to do with your kids that also results in them doing a chore without feeling like a chore.
