Let’s Go RV’ing with Get-Away RV Center!

Springtime is here! It’s getting warmer and warmer each day and with the bright sunny weather comes camping season for us! This is going to be the first time we go camping as a family and if you can’t already tell, I’m super excited! We are not camping pros (yet) so I would like our maiden voyage into the great outdoors to have some homely comforts that will make the experience a smooth transition for us.

The invitation I received from Get-Away RV Centre in Abbotsford, British Columbia to tour an RV couldn’t have been more timely. We made it a family affair as the hubby, children and I toured the Northern Spirit XTR 2146BHX Bunk model. And when I say everyone loved it, I mean the children were ready to pack up their bags and head out immediately.

I got asked endlessly by an insistent 4-year-old and even more insistent 6-year-old when we were going camping with the RV, how long we would get to stay in it and the classic why can’t we just go now. At first, I tried to use the opportunity as a teaching moment on planning and patience, but the topic somehow kept switching back to how cool the bunkbeds in the RV were and who would sleep on the top bank during our camping trip.

RV design has come a long way. The Northern Spirit XTR 2146BHX Bunk model has all the features, comforts and amenities you would find in most apartments! Amazing! Just like a tiny house on wheels.

Being the kind of person who likes to plan meticulously for my family before any trip, I felt a wave of relaxation come over me when I saw how spacious the Northern Spirit XTR 2146BHX Bunk model was on the inside and all the various amenities it is designed with, both on the inside and outside.

Here’s a breakdown of what stood out most for me:

Kitchen
You can still enjoy the comforts of a home-cooked meal while on the road with this kitchen. It comes with a microwave, double bowl stainless steel sink with sink covers and a high rise tap faucet, an oven with a 3 burner cook top, a two door refrigerator and lots of cabinet storage space.

Dining Area
After the bunkbeds, this was another favorite for the children. The booth dinette was giving family diner vibes and the children pretended to eat burgers as they sat in its cozy seats. A lot of thought was put into its design because not only do the seats have deep cabinets for storage under them, but the dinette pops down and this whole area converts into a bed if an extra sleeping area is needed.
A pantry right next to the booth dinette provides a great storage space.

Bedroom
I was pleasantly surprised by the sleeping arrangements in the Northern Spirit XTR 2146BHX Bunk model. The main bedroom area comes with a comfortable and spacious Queen bed with underbed storage, bedside nightstands, closets, reading lights, outlets, lighted USB ports and a laundry center.
The bunkbeds are also quite roomy! They have privacy curtains and reading lights which I thought was a special touch.
Storage space is available under the bunkbeds. The bottom bunk lifts up and locks in. This opens the space up even more and provides a nice nook for a pet bed or for storing luggage and bikes. I liked that this space is also accessible through a door at the back of the RV for easy cargo loading.

Bathroom
Even though the tub is standing room only for adults, my almost 6ft husband could comfortably fit in this tub-shower combo and that was a plus for us. The bathroom had everything I was looking for including a flush toilet, over head shower with tub surround and shower curtain, towel hooks, medicine cabinet, power vent and a sink vanity. It also has a skylight which I thought was a cool add on.

Exterior

The front of the Northern Spirit XTR 2146BHX Bunk model has pass through storage with motion activated light and a hidden compartment that is great for storing fishing rods or roasting sticks.
An easy to use power awning provides a beautiful and broad covering so you can enjoy time outside and won’t miss out on a good picnic no matter the weather.
A two burner cook-top, mini fridge, tap and wash basin that make up the outside kitchen come in pretty handy so you don’t have to go in and out of the RV for supplies.

Noteworthy Extras
The Northern Spirit XTR 2146BHX Bunk model has some amazing and noteworthy extras like a star gazer right above the kitchen and dining area with a pull out screen to keep the bugs out, motion activated floor lights in the bedroom and bathroom, heated and enclosed underbelly, magnetic door catches to secure storage spaces, a wireless phone charger, an exterior dog leash clip and dog wash, ‘‘twice cool’’ dual ducted air conditioning, a solar panel system, gas/electric water heater, ducted furnace, AM/FM Bluetooth stereo, exterior speakers and 2 interior ceiling speakers.
