This edible fruit bouquet is not only beautiful to look at, delicious and healthy, it also comes together easily. And you can totally customize your fruit bouquet to suit your own personal tastes.
It makes a very thoughtful gift for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day or any other occasion worth celebrating. It is also a beautiful way to serve a fruit salad at a potluck or when you have people over.
What you will need:
- Fresh Kale
- Fresh fruit: Pineapple, Cantaloupe, Apple, Grapes, Strawberries.
- Wooden skewers
- Tooth picks
- Flower / Star shaped cookie cutter
- Melon Baller Scoop
- Cup or Small vase
- Piece of Styrofoam
- Foil
Directions:
Cut the Styrofoam to fit your cup or vase.
Wrap it in foil and place it at the base of your cup or vase. This will hold the fruit skewers firmly in place.
Wash the fruits and vegetables and pat dry thoroughly with a paper towel.
Now to prepare the fruit:
Pineapple: Cut the pineapple into round slices ½ inch in size, then using the star or flower shaped cookie cutter, cut out the centre of each pineapple slice and set aside.
Cantaloupe: Cut in half and scoop out the seeds. Using the melon baller scoop, curve out as many pieces of melon from each half and place in a bowl.
Apples: Cut the apple into eights length wise and trim off the core and seeds.
Strawberries: Cut of the stem end.
Assembling your fruit bouquet:
Using the sharp end of the wooden skewer, poke though the star-shaped pineapple and top this with the melon balls to form a “flower”. Do this for all the pineapple pieces.
Poke the grapes through the sharp end of the skewer. I used 5 grapes for a cup arrangement and 7 for a small vase. Make sure the top grape is not poked all the way through, giving a clean finish.
Poke the apple pieces and strawberries through the sharp end of the skewer, being careful not to poke all the way through.
Next, insert the skewers into the foil covered Styrofoam, varying the fruit flowers that are next to each other, just as you would a floral arrangement.
Finally, add the kale to the bottom of the arrangement, securing it into the foam with a toothpick. Make sure to cover the entire bottom of the arrangement with the kale so the foil is not visible and so that any gaps and holes are filled.
Keep the fruit arrangement chilled until you are ready to serve it or gift it.
Have fun celebrating the people in your life with this show stopping edible fruit bouquet!
