As a busy mom, I struggle to make sufficient time to spend time in prayer. It often seems like life is sucking out the little prayer spark we have left.
Yet we want to pray without ceasing.
I always love those precious times I spend alone with God. It gives me space to breathe and let it all go. Only recently, when my friend Keke and I chatted about our prayer lives, I realized I was not alone.
My struggles to balance my time and create a perfect prayer space completely echo the hearts of many moms that work tireless both within and without of their homes.
Our conversation came to a meaningful conclusion about engaging “Prayer Work and Prayer Walk” rather than seeking a perfect occasion to prayer.
Like me, I am sure you treasure these rare moments where we set aside time for meaningful prayer and would love to have them everyday.
Do not despair, dear sister.
Do you know there are several times these special opportunities come our way?
I mean missed opportunities to let our hearts out and speak to our Heavenly Father. Despite our everyday juggling and bustling, our daily activities present prayer prompts we let slip through our fingers.
I am aware that we all have different life routines, so note moments that relate to your own life and inculcate the habit of prayer. Integrating prayers in to our daily activities can be a bit of struggle but we can do it.
Here are a few to get you started…
Our fresh Waking Moment: As our eyelids open in the morning, we usually consider all the chores on our busy schedules. Rather than allowing your thoughts drift to your daily tasks, reflect on the beauty of the morning and take a few minutes to pray before you get up from your bed.
As we sit in the car garage: Just before you head off the drive way take a few minutes to bless your car and the journey.
Homeschooling moms can take the privilege of praying just before you commence your teaching tasks.
For moms who drop off kids at school, say a minute prayer for your kids just before they get off or while driving to school.
When our husbands head off to work, we can soak them in prayers. While hugging or waving goodbye a simple word of prayer is sufficient.
Before your formal work. I practice sit in and praying just before I commence my formal activities. Whether you have to sit on your chair at the office or work from home, it is easy to do.
Just before we eat. I am guilty here. I seem to forget and then halfway through my food I remember to pray.
Just before our kids sleep. I like to do this every night for my daughter. You could pick different prayer points for different nights. This is a truly amazing and satisfactory experience.
Just before we go to bed. Just before you knock out tired on the bed a word of gratitude for the day may suffice.
When someone pops up in your head. This is usually a leading to pray. They may be in danger or in trouble.
