Well, it’s about here – summer, that is. The kids will soon be out of school and the lazy days of summer will become long days with kids needing lots of attention and lots of ideas for fun.
I actually love summer because I love to spend time with my kids, however now that they are older they are gone much more but I still love to not be on a school schedule and having to get the kids out the door. I love the heat, I love that it “seems” more relaxing.
I love to spend summer with God and I’m wondering if you love to do the same. I know it’s hard to find that time that we so desire alone with God, but I want to encourage you to do that.
Why spend time with God? Well what if He has something super important to tell you? (ummm…He always does.) What if you knew that He desires to be with you above all other things? (Ummm…He always does.) What if you knew that He is listening to every single word you say and every heart cry you have? (Yep, He always is!)
So if the God that created all things from the beginning of time wanted time with YOU, wouldn’t it be worth it to carve out a couple of minutes or more for him?
Of course it would!
Don’t get some crazy notion that time with God has to be perfect. It’s all about the relationship, not the place or how you do it. When my kids were very young, I met with God in the shower. No I’m not kidding! It was the only place I could get 5 min to myself and so I began spending that time focusing on God and talking to him in the shower. Oooh the things he spoke to my heart were so amazing.
He simply wants our hearts.
If you give God 5 – 10 minutes a day, it truly could change your life. It can transform you and make you new!
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
God will meet you anywhere…I think that’s a pretty good date – don’t you?
