You’re hanging on. So, so tight. Your feel your fingernails digging in deeper.
You’re trying.
So hard.
But mama, maybe you need to let go.
Release that anchor that’s weighing you down. That thing that you’re trying so hard to wrangle.
To control.
You don’t have to try and control it anymore. You’ve tried. You’ve given it your best, but perhaps it’s time.
Time to let go and give it to The One who holds you, even when you don’t feel it – when you forget He was holding you all along, because you were holding to that thing so tight, you thought you didn’t need Him.
You had it under control.
But that feeling of control? That was just an illusion anyway.
If you can’t heal your depression with diet and exercise and use medication to manage it, that’s okay. If you pour everything you have into your kids and they make choices that disappoint you, you haven’t failed. If you’ve tried your very best to make breastfeeding work but both you and your baby are miserable, feed him formula.
You can’t control everything, even though we live in a society that has solutions for everything.
What is your thing, mama? What do you need to let go of today? What are you trying to control, or believe you can control? What’s that thing that you’re killing yourself to believe will work out if you just tried a little bit harder?
Today mama, let it go.
Stop placing your personal value on whether you succeed or fail.
Stop trying to control it.
One much greater than you is already in control.
‘Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.‘
1 Peter 5:6-7
