I don’t like feeling stressed so I’ve decided to allow less stress into my life in 2019! Care to join me? Here are a few ways you can get started.
Spend More Time Outside
Fresh air is a sure fire way to de-stress. Plan a hike, enjoy the 2019 free National park days or simply go to a neighborhood park near you. Even easier…just go into your own backyard! The point is to be intentional, build it into your week and breathe in that fresh air.
Workout
Okay, before you grumble about this one, choose something you enjoy and be realistic. You may not have the budget for the gym, that’s okay. Go for a walk. You may be more into the workout videos in front of the TV, that’s totally okay too! Find a way to build physical activity into your day in ways that make sense.

Build Relationships…IN PERSON
In this day and age of social media, texting and online groups, it can often be hard to develop close relationships in person. Make this the year that you work at it. Yes, I said work at it, because it isn’t always easy, especially if it doesn’t come naturally to you. Building great, close friendships will allow you to have that person you can call when things are rough, when you need an ear to listen or someone to laugh with you. Is it a neighbor? Is it a friend from church? Who can you work to develop a closer relationship with this year?

Be Still
A few years ago we all participated in a Be Still Challenge. We took a moment to be still. Read more about what we did and how it worked and try it yourself!
Relaxation
Go get a massage or go to the spa. If it isn’t in the budget, build relaxation into other things you are already doing. Perhaps this means you go grocery shopping along instead of taking the kids, maybe this means you get an hour to close the door and no one can knock. Whatever it may be, take some time for yourself!
Music
Turn your radios to a radio station that will uplift and encourage you! I even have one you can try. Switch your dials to SPIRIT 105.3. I dare you to try it for 30 days and see how music that is filled with hope changes you.
Declutter
I cannot handle clutter very well so I always spend some time in the new year getting rid of junk. I love how it makes me feel and how it makes the house look. Try it!

Pursue Your Passions
What do you love? Perhaps this is the year you need to find out, or you need to build in a little time to do what you love. Maybe that is taking the time to be creative or maybe that means just going out for a coffee and enjoying the quiet. Build it in!
Meditate on God’s Word
I find it so challenging to get a regular quiet time into my busy working-mom life. However, what I can do is have these Bible verses at the ready! Hang them in your house, in your car and find ways to allow God’s word to inspire and encourage you in the new year.
