We moved into an older house built in the 1960s about 3 years ago. It’s no surprise that the building codes were much different back in the day. One such difference is insulation. It really wasn’t required for there to be any insulation in the attic. While our attic had maybe 4 inches total, the current recommendation is 16 inches. The other thing about our attic is that it used to be a habitat for rats. While that is gross, it is also a health problem as my husband regularly switches out light fixes and things that require him to go into our attic. Not really good for him to be climbing around up there and breathing in all that junk. So, we’ve been investigating for awhile getting our attic cleaned and insulated.
We finally made the decision to get it done and are excited to share with you our experience using Crawl Pros.
Rebecca received discounted service from Crawl Pros for her honest review.
#1 – Customer Service
The customer service experience from the first estimate to the final paid invoices was impeccable. The estimate was thorough and informative. The scheduling gal was very helpful and kind. The cleaning and insulation teams were on time or early each day. The final invoicing with final pictures was received timely and efficiently. To me, customer service is HUGE! I don’t expect companies to be perfect, but I do expect them to deliver on the contract, be kind and respectful and know their business. I also expect them to make it right if something does go wrong. We had one small snag during the process with the hatches they built and they were quick to see the issue and fix it. In my opinion the way a company treats their customers when something goes slightly wrong tells you a lot about the company as a whole. Crawl Pros exceeded my customer service expectations from start to finish!
#2 – Pictures
We received several quotes for our attic and the prices were all relatively comparable. Crawl Pros stood out for a couple reasons. They were way more thorough! And they prove the work they do. I love that they took before photos during the estimate to show us what our attic looked like along with what they recommend for service. After they finished at our house they gave us a full e-mail of photos documenting all they did. I love this. You aren’t able to crawl around in your insulation and make sure everything is done correctly (Plus, who wants to do that??) so this was huge for me.
After Day 1 our attic was all cleaned out, sanitized and ready for insulation. My husband said, “It doesn’t smell anymore!”
The second day everything was wrapped, secured and sealed and the insulation was blown in!
#3 – There is no stress.
My husband and I are both working from home and have 2 young kids running around that need our attention. We really don’t have time for a high maintenance company that doesn’t come in and just do their thing. I want to trust them and just let them have at it.
Step 1: Crawl Pros asked us where are attic hatches were. Ours is in the garage so that made it extra easy. They set up a little barrier to protect from dust and it looked like a scene from ET.
They went to work. Asked us a few questions along the way. Packed up nicely at the end of the day. No stress for me.
Let me repeat that.
THERE IS NO STRESS FOR YOU!!!
Maybe I should move that to point #1.
We can already feel the difference in the temperature in our home and since I sit very close to the furnace every day while working, I can tell you that it is kicking on way less than it originally was. I am super excited to report back and let you know how much it impacts our energy bill, which just went up significantly because we are at home all the time now.
