The children informed me that August 25th was National Banana Split Day. They have never had a banana split before and were quite curious to know what it looked and tasted like. Specifically, they asked me if it was yummy. I explained that it involved bananas, ice cream, whipped cream and various toppings. However, since we did not have ice cream or whipped cream on hand, I suggested that we could make our own version with Greek yogurt, maple syrup and dark chocolate that would not only be just as yummy, but healthier.
So here we are, celebrating National Banana split day with a healthy take on a favorite treat. Still super delicious with our healthy swaps.
Ingredients:
- Banana
- Greek Yogurt
- Maple syrup
- Dark chocolate (melted)
- Sprinkles
Directions:
Carefully curve out the middle part of a banana until it looks like a little boat.
Fill the hallow of the banana with Greek yogurt.
Drizzle maple syrup and melted chocolate over the yogurt.
Add Sprinkles if you choose to and enjoy!
