Over the weekend, I heard about the 16 missionaries that were abducted in Haiti when they were building an orphanage. My momma heart broke when I saw there was 5 children involved and one is as young as 2 years old. I read further and discovered that gang abductions have been on the rise in Haiti. School children are kidnapped on their way to school. One school class got together to raise money to ransom a fellow student. This is devastating.
It’s hard to know what to do during moments like this, but we can band together and pray that God works everything together for good. Will you pray with me?
Heavenly father, we know when we serve you that it doesn’t mean clear sailing. These missionaries were serving you, Lord. Will you continue to use them in this dark situation for your glory? I’m reminded of Paul in Acts when he was in prison. You used Paul’s situation to lead people to you. People that helped start the first church. Will you work that same miracle here? Will you shake them free of their prison and change lives?
Lord, I pray specifically for the children. My momma heart breaks at the thought of children being afraid and in this situation. Will you give them peace beyond any understanding? Soothe their hearts, provide for their needs, keep them safe.
What can be done from a distance, Lord? Will you show us how you want us to pray? What can we do to help Haiti in this moment? What can we do to support our brothers and sisters? Please heal Haiti, restore them to peace, to you.
We live a fallen world and we look to you, Lord. Help these missionaries. Restore them. Keep them safe. Be with them always.
