Everyone’s journey to becoming parents is unique and special in its own way; however our journey to becoming parents was a journey that we never expected.
About 5 years ago my husband & I found out that we would be unable to have biological children. We were sad but ultimately felt God leading us to adopt. 8 months later we were “officially” on the adoption waiting list. This meant at any moment we could get ‘the call.’ Either you have been chosen by a Birthmother who is due soon or you were chosen to parent this baby that has already been born.
‘I believe they are the right adoptive parents for my unborn child.”
These were the words we had longed to hear from so long. Only 3 months later we welcomed Westyn Craig into our family through adoption. The time spent in the hospital with Westyn, his Birthmother & her family was like something out of a fairy tale. We experienced great highs, tears, first parent jitters and many more emotions. We were officially parents!
We started the process for baby #2 around Westyn’s first birthday – this process was less than smooth. Needless to say after 9 long months, 4 court hearings, 1 trial and a 30 day waiting period our daughter “officially” was able to join our family.
Adoption is part of our story. A beautiful struggle.
Unwavering faith. Determination. Tears. Fear. This journey to parenthood was not what we imagined. But, it is ours. And we are blessed and complete.
