By now you’ve probably heard us talk about Confetti Grace. It’s a subscription craft box that makes crafting super easy. The crafts are cute and tied to the season, and kids absolutely love it, too.
Last week, our October box arrived. I opened it to see what craft we’d be doing (you can also usually get a sneak peek on their Facebook page) and, as always, was blown away by the gorgeous packaging and the amount of supplies inside. But being the practical, budget-minded person I am, I had a thought – Could I make this craft cheaper if I just went to the store and bought all the supplies myself?
And so I tried.
Kristina was compensated to sample and review Confetti Grace, but all opinions are her own.
I made a list of everything that was in the box and headed to my local craft store, ready to round up all the things I needed to do the project on my own. Here’s what I learned.
- There are a lot of supplies to buy. And even if you only need one or two of a random item, you have to buy a whole package. This adds up quickly.
- Shopping takes up a lot of time. I was at the store nearly an hour trying to find all the things I needed.
- Some of the supplies are really specialized, and even at the giant craft store I couldn’t find some of the exact items I was looking for. If I bought something similar, my craft wouldn’t have turned out quite like it was supposed to.
- I could have driven to another store to try and find the exact items – but that would have taken even more time.
- If I was buying all the supplies I needed from the store, I couldn’t make the craft for less than the cost of the subscription.
That’s right – myth busted. After tallying up all the items I’d found, I was at $28.97 before tax, and I was still missing 4 items. The subscription is $28.95.
This exercise helped me realize that that not only is there monetary value in a subscription box, but there’s other value, too.
- Time: I didn’t have to spend time choosing a craft, organizing a craft, or shopping for a craft. Confetti Grace does all that for me.
- Waste: Confetti Grace only sends me what I need. I didn’t have to buy a 10-pack of wooden dowels when I only needed 2, nor do I have to have the extra 8 dowels cluttering up my house somewhere.
- Frustration: I didn’t have to get frustrated that I couldn’t find the right items at the store. Nor did I have to be disappointed that my craft didn’t turn out like it was supposed to. I got all the supplies I needed, the instructions were clear, and the project turned out super cute.
- Extras: Usually the projects include die-cut pieces. I didn’t think about this until I was at the store trying to figure out how I was going to replicate this part of the craft. Sure, you could freehand and cut them out, but the end result probably wouldn’t look as polished.
- Doing Good: A portion of the proceeds always goes to a non-profit. This is a fun little bonus that adds to the fact that you can feel good about your purchase!
So overall Confetti Grace is a great value. Not only does it save you money, but it saves you time and effort – leaving you with more to spend on the things that you enjoy. Like crafting!
If you’ve been on the fence about whether to try Confetti Grace, now is the month to try. The October craft is soooooo cute, the gift tags and cards are adorable, and for this month only they’re adding a third pumpkin craft to your box – how’s that for even more value?
