I’ve been using juice cleanses as part of my health journey for a month and a half now. I’ve lost weight, slimmed my midsection, improved my health, and broken bad eating habits. Overall, I feel so much more comfortable in my skin and am thrilled that I have finally been able to get the scale moving in the right direction.
Frankly, that’s not easy to do when you’re in your 40s.
But before I started, I was nervous. I’d never done a juice cleanse before and didn’t know what to expect. I read through the instructions and the Squeezed.com website, but I didn’t want marketing answers – I wanted real answers from real people. So that’s what I’m giving you today.
I have been compensated by Squeezed.com to sample and review their juice cleanse, but I am sharing my true and honest experience. Make sure to tell them Spirit 105.3 radio/Kristina sent you!
Will I be hungry on a juice cleanse?
Honestly, this was my top concern. I love food, I never miss meals, I get lightheaded if I go too long without eating. And I’m not going to lie – I do get hungry on occasion. But here’s the kicker – I’ve realized it’s not true hunger. It’s more of an emotional response. Sure, I may feel hungry but I don’t get the accompanying weakness and lightheadedness that accompany my hunger pangs when I’m eating normally. And once I realized that, it was easy to push past them. Plus, they are short-lived because a couple of sips of the protein-packed cashew milk (included) make those feelings go away almost immediately.
But also – everyone is different. My husband is a bigger, active guy. He did a 3-day with me and never got hungry. In fact, he felt so good he extended it to a 4-day. My 71-year-old mom did a 3-day with me and she didn’t get hungry either. So will you be hungry on a juice cleanse? The answer is – maybe, or maybe not. It depends on you. You may feel hungry on occasion but you’re still getting enough calories from the juice to function, and any hunger pangs can easily be resolved with a few sips of cashew milk.
Are juice cleanses expensive?
A few months before trying Squeezed.com, I wanted to do a juice cleanse so I price-compared a bunch of them. I just price checked juice cleanses again and I haven’t found any that cost less than Squeezed.com! Squeezed.com averages about $10 less per day than other juice cleanses I’ve seen, and if you’re in their delivery area you can even get same-day delivery if you order by 1:00pm! A juice cleanse is an investment, but it’s a short-term cost – and Squeezed.com is the most cost-effective juice cleanse I’ve found.
Are the juices good?
The standard Squeezed.com cleanse is all fruit-based, so the juices are sweet! Unless you specifically order Super Squeezed (veggie-based), you can expect to enjoy fruit juices all day! They are all thin juices (not thick smoothies) so texture wasn’t a problem, either. I was able to drink all of them without a problem – and I’m kind of a picky eater. Sure, there were some that I enjoyed more than others, but all were palatable. And the longer I’ve done it, I’m finding myself really liking a couple of the juices that initially weren’t my favorite!
Can I have coffee on my juice cleanse?
I get it. Especially in a coffee-loving area like our local Seattle, it’s tough to start the day without it. The answer depends on your goals. If one of your goals is to reduce (or eliminate) caffeine dependency, then you’ll want to skip it. However, if breaking your caffeine habit isn’t a concern for you, you can have black coffee. You shouldn’t put anything in it (even dairy-free, sugar-free, or other “healthy” creamers), but you can add some of the creamy cashew milk, which many people on the Squeezed.com Facebook group opt to do.
Can I eat anything on my juice cleanse?
Generally you should avoid all solid foods. If you really feel like you need something, Squeezed.com says you can have raw fruits and veggies to curb your cravings. However, a cleanse is uniquely yours and you make the rules based on your goals. Some people on the Facebook group cleanse during the day and have a small, healthy dinner. This wouldn’t work for me because of my inability to moderate. I much prefer the all-or-nothing route. Anything less than all in makes me feel like I’m not getting the benefits I’m looking for.
Will I have energy on my juice cleanse?
Again, this varies from person to person. And even day to day! I’ve never felt like I couldn’t function, couldn’t parent, or couldn’t work. I still work out if I want to – sometimes harder than normal, sometimes an easy routine. But I also listen to my body and sometimes I take a nap. A juice cleanse is something good you’re doing for your body. It’s not a punishment. Don’t approach it as such.
How long should I do a juice cleanse?
Everyone is different. Many people start with a 1-day to make sure they like the juices, or a 2-, 3-, or 4-day for their first cleanse. I loved the 7-day for re-setting my palate, portion sizes, and breaking cravings and bad food habits. Since my initial 7-day, I’ve been juicing 2 days per week to keep me on track food-wise and prevent myself from falling too far back into bad habits.
Will I be in the bathroom a lot?
Squeezed.com recommends drinking a gallon of water in addition to the bottles of juice. So if your body isn’t accustomed to so much hydration, you may find yourself in the bathroom a fair amount as you adjust. However, this juice cleanse won’t result in stomach problems or an – ahem – digestive clean-out.
Will I lose weight?
The short answer is YES! Most people lose weight on a juice cleanse. However, if you go back to eating poorly right after your cleanse you’ll find the weight will return quickly. But this is why I’ve loved the juice cleanse the most – I didn’t WANT to go back to eating poorly. I didn’t crave the unhealthy foods I’d been indulging in. The juice cleanse gave me a re-set that made it EASY to finally make good choices, and my weekly short-term cleanse ensures I never get too far off track, even if I enjoy a treat now and then. Yes, I lost weight on my initial cleanse. But the most exciting part for me has been watching the scale continue to tick downward AFTER the cleanse because I’m treating my body better. I know the numbers I’m seeing now represent true weight loss, and that makes me so happy.
What’s the hardest part of a juice cleanse?
Honestly, the hardest part was the mental battle for my first cleanse, but all my shorter cleanses since then have been easy. Meals anchor my day so going without that routine made my schedule initially feel a little weird. I do find that I’m not very hungry after lunch so I accidentally space out my afternoon juices too far and then have a bit of an energy crash – but that’s my own fault. When I remember to drink at regular intervals, my energy stays even throughout the day.
How do I get started on a juice cleanse?
There’s no secret here – you just start! If it’s your first time, decide what length of time suits you best. Order a 1-day before making a longer-term investment, order a 3-day before your spring break vacation, or order a 7-day if you’re fed up with feeling awful and ready to make a change. Your cleanse, your choice! Order yours at Squeezed.com today and make sure you tell them Kristina/Spirit 105.3 radio sent you!
