Do you want some adventure in your life? Feeling humdrum about your existence as you go through the motions day-in and day-out? Tired of the routine you’ve fallen into? Do you feel stuck in a rut?
If so, I have a proposal for you.
I hope you recognize that anything worthwhile requires effort, time, and energy. Perhaps you have some of these resources to spare. On the other hand, maybe you feel the need to rearrange some of your priorities and activities to accomplish something more worthwhile.
Another thing I hope you recognize is that you have a choice how to spend your life. Some seasons you find yourself working hard to be successful at your vocation. In other seasons, you focus more on relationships. In others, perhaps its health & wellness. Some seasons are more challenging than others and, in the end, the most challenging seasons usually turn out to be the most satisfying and life-changing.
Perhaps you engage your time, talent, and treasure in causes you care deeply about. Perhaps you find yourself sacrificially embedded in addressing the needs of those around you, fulfilling your calling to lose yourself in the cause of helping others. Perhaps you are already giving all you can.
If you are already giving all you can, stop here. There’s no need to read further.
But if you are the kind of person who wants to do more, give more, or simply be more effective at helping those in need around you, read on…
The adventure I propose does not require you to leave your job, or your home, or your church. It does not require extensive travel. It does, however, require leaving a life of comfort and picking up a mantle of courage.
It requires you to change your priorities to care for the needs of another, it requires hours of training to learn the system that works best for most, but in the end will leave you frustrated because every need is unique, and you’ll feel unprepared for the challenge before you. Therefore, drawing upon a deep well of courage is required as you leave a life of comfort to do battle against forces of evil.
You may end up stronger, wiser, and more in touch with yourself than before while also being more broken-hearted and dependent on God than ever before. You may be revitalized while also being in need of more self-care than you can admit. You may learn more about yourself and find within you, your family, and your relationship with God, more courage and compassion than you thought possible. You may find yourself nursing wounds after a season but counting the rewards of a worthwhile endeavor.
It sounds scary. Let me assure you, it *is*.
But still, people like you walk into this adventure every day, caring for and advocating for the needs of others. People like you muster their courage, leaving the comfort of complacency for an adventure of significance. People like you find comfort and encouragement associating others who have gone before and others who are in the fray right now.
The adventure I refer to is foster-care.
I encourage you to throw aside your fears, objections and the comfortable rut you find yourself in. Step into a life of courage and adventure like no other. Contact Olive Crest. The good folks there will help you live this adventure.
