Deuteronomy 6:5-9 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words that I give you today. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you’re at home or away, when you lie down or get up. Write them down, and tie them around your wrist, and wear them as headbands as a reminder. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
From the time our children could talk, we taught them to say their Bible based morning confessions as soon as they wake up. This is because we wanted them to always have the Word of God constantly on their lips and in their hearts. We did not rush the process, but rather taught them a little at a time. We repeated each line until it was memorized, then added the next line until that too was memorized, and so on. As the years went by, we slowly added to the confession as we were led to do so by the Holy Spirit.
It is my prayer that you and your family will be blessed by these Biblical confessions because the Word of God is alive. The teaching of God’s Word brings light, understanding and wisdom. (Psalm 119:130)
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
I pray that the Word of God does all this and more in your children, in your home and in your family as you speak it out loud every morning. There is power in speaking the Word of God.
Here is the confession in bold. I have added the Bible verses each line is based on for your reference and for further study.
