Come sundown on November 29, Woodland Park Zoo will transform into a sparkling winter wonderland for WildLights. The city’s wildest holiday lights festival boasts over 800,000 colorful energy-efficient LED lights, recreating wild animals and wild places across the zoo. But when you visit WildLights, you’re doing more than just celebrating the holidays – you’re celebrating conservation and helping to save wildlife.
Funds from each WildLights ticket sold go directly toward more than 35 of the zoo’s wildlife conservation projects, which help save animals and their habitats in the Pacific Northwest and around the world. Working with conservationists and researchers, Woodland Park Zoo focuses on a conservation strategy that includes habitat and species conservation, research, education and local capacity building and community support.
Through the Living Northwest Program, the zoo helps protect species like grizzly bears, gray wolves, western pond turtles, North American river otters, Oregon silverspot butterflies, and so many more. The program links animal conservation, health and sustainability in our own backyard to keep the Pacific Northwest wild, beautiful and thriving. This is just one of the many programs you’re supporting when you visit WildLights at Woodland Park Zoo.
On top of saving wildlife in our region, your support at WildLights also helps save wildlife across the globe: From Africa to Asia, the Pacific Ocean to Papua New Guinea, the zoo’s Wildlife Survival Program and Conservation Partners work to save species and their habitats around the world, before it’s too late.
We need nature, and nature needs us to take action. It’s up to all of us to build a sustainable future, and conserving animals is at the heart of the solution. When you visit WildLights and Woodland Park Zoo, you’re helping the zoo’s mission to save wildlife and inspire everyone to make conservation a priority in their lives.
