We love superheroes. Have you noticed how the thing that makes the hero different from everybody else is the source of their super power? It’s true for you too.
Our daughter Zoe has Down Syndrome. I’ve mostly stop saying she has special needs because that extra 21st chromosome means that the things that are easy for me are sometimes hard for her. Like math and tying her shoes… and the things that are hard for me are very easy for her. Like love. Like deep compassion for others. Like believing that anything can happen.
Those are amazing gifts. You can teach math. You can’t teach heart. So grateful for her super power.
Today is World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. So celebrate YOUR super power… and if you see someone who is just a little bit different, be amazed.
