Christmas movies have started and I’m ready for it! Bring all the happiness, comfort, and joy! We need it. Here is a roundup of what’s happening Christmas movie wise this year. *This is up to date as of October 2020*
Where to Find New Christmas Movies This Year
Hallmark
Hallmark plans to air 40 new movies this year between it’s Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. I found the best way to keep track of new movies is by downloading the Hallmark Movie Checklist app. You can also see their full Countdown to Christmas schedule on their Website. Easily click to see more about each film and which ones you want to see. If you are curious about the differences between the Hallmark Channels, I’ve got you covered with a Hallmark 101.
Lifetime
I haven’t personally watched many Lifetime Christmas movies because I don’t have the channel on my devices, however, they also have a full schedule of movies coming. They have a full schedule and a way to watch movies that have already aired if you sign in with your cable subscription.
Netflix
I’m very excited for The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two. Our family really enjoyed Part 1. Netflix will be having 7 new movies this year and you can find the list and synopsis on Good Housekeeping.
Amazon Prime
I don’t know if they are doing any new movies these year on Amazon, but here is a list of movies available if you are an Amazon Prime subscriber. My personal favorite is The Christmas Lodge!
How To Stream Christmas Movies This Year
I have tested a fair number of streaming services to find my favorites so I’m going to include that here as well if you are looking for a way to enjoy some Christmas movies and don’t have cable.
Sling TV
I was a past Sling subscriber and found it very easy to use and reliable. It has gone up in price considerably and the plan we needed in order to watch Hallmark was $40/month. Since that was a little steep for us we ended up cancelling. They do often have a 7-day free trial so you could test it out for yourself.
Hallmark Movies Now
This subscription will not give you access to new Hallmark Movies – only the older ones. A lot of people get confused about this. I am not super thrilled with the service as I generally want to watch newer stuff so we only subscribed for a year and didn’t renew. Here is my full review of the platform.
frndly TV
We went with the $7.99 plan on frndly TV so that I could record to the DVR the shows I wanted. It is the cheapest streaming service I’ve found. So far we’ve found it to be good and reliable. On occasion it freezes and we are unable to keep watching, but I’m not sure if that is the platform or our Internet.
Philo
I did the free subscription of Philo to test it out and because I wanted to watch the newest season of Good Bones on HGTV! Of all the services I actually think this one is the best because you could potentially get Hallmark, HGTV and Lifetime all in one subscription for $20/month. The only reason we went with frndly TV is because of the price and we wanted to save money. I do miss having HGTV.
