I have said it many times before:
I LOVE FALL!
Fall is my reward for making it through the summer. The changing colors, sweaters, hot drinks, good books, rainy days, I love it all!
So, when I saw these cute little cinnamon pumpkins, I just had to try to make them for myself (and share the recipe with you!).
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 cup ground cinnamon
- Optional: pinch of ground cloves
- ¾ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 Tablespoons Elmer’s glue (white or clear)
- Wood sticks (I cut them from my yard)
- Butter knife or skewer
- Parchment paper and cookie sheet
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees F.
Mix the cinnamon, applesauce and glue together in a medium bowl. Stir until all the cinnamon is moistened.
Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet and roll the dough into 15 balls (they will be about a heaping Tablespoon in size).
Put a stick in each ball, make sure your stick is long enough to stay in when the pumpkin is dry.
Make “pumpkin grooves” around your pumpkins with a knife or skewer.
Bake your little gourds for 2-3 hours (I did 3). Rotate the pan every 30 minutes (I don’t know if this is really necessary, but I did it).
Remove from the oven and place the pan on a cooling rack to further dry for 24 hours.
Wait until the pumpkins are cool before you peel them off the paper. A little paper may stick to the bottom, but as my mom would say, “It will never be seen on a galloping horse.”
You could add these to a bowl of potpourri, line them up on a mantle, give them as gifts… The possibilities are endless! Wherever you use them, your house will smell amazing!
Note: Do a search on where spices are mentioned in the Bible and you will be taken down a sweet-smelling rabbit hole!
