We are sharing a series of blogs focused specifically on praying over the new school year. For the next 10 days we will be praying over parents, teachers, administrators, support staff and students. Please share your prayer in the comments or join us on Facebook to post your prayer there!
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
School leaders need calm courage as we lead our teams this coming school year. As the world navigates fear and uncertainty, God speaks peace to us in the same voice that brought the world into existence. The voice that named the stars (Ps. 147:4) and commands the waves of the sea (Mark 4:39) tells us to “Fear not.”
Think of a time when someone you trusted comforted you with a similar assurance and you found a sense of calm and courage in their presence and in their words. Perhaps it was a parent or an older sibling who reassured you of reality after you awoke from a nightmare. Maybe it was a coach or a teacher who spoke confidence into you at a crucial time of your life. Trust was strengthened, and you were changed in such a way that you remember it to this day.
When God comforts and assures his people, he tells us that he is with us. We belong to him, and he will strengthen, help, and uphold us. As we trust him, his words change and empower us. They give us calm courage to convey to those we lead. In a time of fear and uncertainty, pray that we as school leaders will depend on God’s words and remember his presence and faithfulness. In turn, may we be characterized by confident faith because our God is trustworthy.
