The other day we were asking on social media how parents handle teaching their kids what to do in an emergency situation, particularly if they don’t have a landline at home. Weigh in on that conversation here and see what other parents are doing.
A few years ago we learned about Smart 911 when we attended a National Night Out in our local community. (By the way, National Night Out is TOMORROW! It’s super fun. Find out if there is an event in your area!)
Smart911 is a free service that allows you to gather data about yourselves, your kids, your household that is immediately given to 911 in the case of an emergency. You associate specific numbers with your profile and when any of those numbers call 911 your information is pulled up. What I like about this is you can associate several numbers with your profile so we did this with anyone that my kids are with that also have a mobile phone. In our case, grandma! You aren’t always going to be at hom when you call 911 so it is important to be as protected as you possibly can.
Setting up a profile doesn’t take long and it can be a life saver. I’d encourage you to set one up today! It is available regardless of if you have landlines or mobile phones.
