Drive-in movie theaters have slowly been disappearing the last couple decades, and there are now less than 300 drive-ins left in the United States. We’re fortunate to still have five in Washington.
All the theaters in our state play double features of top blockbuster movies at less than half the price of regular movie theaters, and most offer full-service concession menus.
Bring your favorite blankets and pillows, pack some games or activities for pre-show entertainment, and put on your best pajamas for a movie under the stars. If you’ve never been to a drive-in movie, this is a great tradition to start with your family this summer.

Auto Vue Drive-In Theater
Auto Vue Drive-In in Colville is the only drive-in in Eastern Washington. It opened in 1953, but nearly closed a few years ago when they needed to upgrade to digital projection and update their screen. The community rallied together to save the Auto Vue and several years later, it’s still playing movies. Auto Vue Drive-In is only open on weekends, and they have a special on Sunday nights – “Car Load Night” for $15.

I’m Hannah — a Seattle native and a mom to three spirited daughters. I love a good oat milk latte from Caffe Ladro, learning to skateboard with my 6-year-old, and exploring new parks with my best friend and partner, Matt. I’ve walked through hard seasons of divorce, single-parenting, and mental illness (in my kids and myself), but in the last couple years I’ve been redefining what it means for me to be a mom in my 30’s and how to find joy right here. (Hello, skateboard lessons and adult art class!) I didn’t expect much of anything about my life as it is now, but I’m learning to savor each moment. There is so much joy to be found here.
