Tips for Easter Egg Hunts, Baskets & Egg Dyeing
In our house we do a mix of faith-filled activities as well as the fluffier activities. We are open and honest with our kids talking about the fact that the Easter bunny isn’t real, but we still enjoy an Easter egg hunt and egg dyeing. In fact, doing a fluffier Easter egg hunt has been a great way to get to know our neighbors and we’ve been able to share Jesus with them in ways we wouldn’t have been able to had we not been participating in a common activity. I love how God can bring people together in that way!

Setting Up an Easter Egg Hunt
Easter egg hunts bring a lot of excitement and fun for adults and children alike. To plan an Easter egg hunt successfully, there are some tips to keep in mind.
Create a scavenger hunt: This can help add more structure and give adults something to do while the children are searching for eggs. If you have kids who like puzzles, you can create clues or riddles for them to solve as part of the hunt.
Make sure there are enough eggs for everyone: This will ensure that no one is left out and that all participants have a chance to join in the fun. If you don’t want to buy a lot of plastic Easter eggs, consider filling cloth eggs with treats.
Hide the eggs in easy-to-find places: This will help avoid frustration and increase the fun factor. Hide some eggs so they are visible but difficult to reach, while hiding others in more obvious locations. Don’t forget to count how many you hide!
Set an age-appropriate level of difficulty: Make sure that younger children have an opportunity to find the eggs, but also provide a challenge for older kids who may be able to scout out more difficult hiding spots.
Set time limits: This will give participants an idea of how long they have to find the eggs and add a sense of urgency.
Have prizes on hand: For adults and children alike, having a prize for the winner will make the competition even more fun. This could be candy, small toys or gift cards.
End the hunt with a special activity: After they’ve finished hunting, have everyone gather together to do something special like bake a cake or go on a nature walk. This way, everyone can enjoy their Easter egg hunt experience
If you prefer to go and participate in a community Easter egg hunt, consider where you are going. I suggest finding a local church that is engaging the community. Even better, invite a friend or neighbor and use it as an outreach opportunity.
Egg Coloring
We’ve seen that dyeing potatoes is the thing this year because of the cost of eggs. If you try this, we’d love to see! You can easily go get a kit at a local store to help you out, but we also have a way you can do it without food coloring.

Here is the real question…can we eat the eggs after we dye them? Do you?
Creating a Meaningful Meal
I love a good ham meal! We don’t go all out in our house with anything wild or crazy, but we do have a few staples we love to incorporate. Generally they include ham, potatoes and corn! Oh, and the all important rolls. I mean you have to have something the kids will eat, right?

Conversation
Questions to ask at dinner can help stimulate interesting conversations, generate meaningful discussion, or shed light on different topics. Here are some good questions to ask at dinner to help break the ice and get conversations flowing!
These questions can be especially good if you are with family you haven’t seen in a while. You can create jars to have on the tables and then draw a question for the group.

I want to encourage you, especially if you sometimes find yourself overwhelmed at any of the holidays. I think life can often get in the way when we are trying really hard to create memorable days for our kids. I give you permission to relax. There isn’t a ‘right way’ to do Easter. Point to Jesus in what you say and do and the rest will work itself out.
A Prayer for Your Easter Season
Lord, for the mom overwhelmed today, take that load off her shoulders. Lord, for the mom who is trying too hard, remind her that she can take a break. Lord, for the mom who needs a reminder of all you’ve done in her life, show up in a unique way. Lord, for all moms, fill them up. It’s a big job to disciple our children, but God is with us and he has given us the kids that he meant for us. Lord, remind us all that you are here, we only need to ask for your help and strength.
