Looking for an easy sewing project for your big kids? Try out these DIY stuffed fabric Hearts!
What you will need:
- Scraps of fabric
- Needle and Thread
- Stuffing ( I used balls of cotton )
- Scissors
- Heart Template ( I drew out a heart on a piece of cardboard and cut it out. You can also use a heart shaped cookie cutter)
- Ribbon or Twine
Instructions:
1. Draw a heart shape on a piece of cardboard and carefully cut out your heart template.
2. Place the heart template on top of a piece of fabric that is folded in half.
3. Carefully cut along the template to cut out your fabric into two pieces of heart shapes.
4. Place the two pieces of cut out fabric together, right sides facing each other and using your needle and thread, sew along the curves, leaving a small gap that will allow you to turn the heart inside out.
5. Turn the heart inside out and gently poke the points and smooth out the curves.
6. Stuff the fabric heart with cotton balls, pushing the stuffing into points and curves.
7. Sew the small opening shut with your needle and tread.
8. Add your ribbon to the top by sewing it on as well.
9. Display your beautiful hand-crafted stuffed heart anywhere you like. For example hanging on mirrors, chest of drawers, doorknobs, bulletin boards, or gift it to a loved one.
Optional: Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the cotton balls before stuffing your fabric heart to fill your space with a lovely scent.
