Eat. More. Often. This was the best take-away for me during the 24-day Advocare Challenge. I love working out but I also love food. I will never be interested in trying some fad diet of cabbage or liquid-only meals.
When my daughter (my second and last child) turned one last July, I finally felt ready to give up the excuses of why I hadn’t lost the last of the “baby weight”. It took me until April to feel ready to actually make a change. When I learned about Advocare, the reason it was appealing is because you can eat real food and you can eat it often.
We need energy to fuel our bodies, and Advocare helped me do just that. What I learned is that in order to keep our bodies fueled and our metabolisms revving, we must eat. I learned better ways to fuel my body. Every time I began feeling hungry or cranky, I would talk through my day with my health coach. 100% of the time, she would tell me, “Stephanie, you need to be eating enough calories!” She was right.
I kept attempting to reach my goals by restricting my calories. Once I finally got this in check, I found that I truly had more energy than ever. I am a full time working mom of two, I teach a fitness class mid-week at a gym and I also typically work out 4 days a week. I need all the energy I can get. The reason the Advocare system works for me is because it fits into my life style and allows me to eat!
I don’t know about you, but I am often so busy rushing out the door that I’d typically drink coffee for breakfast once I got to work. Then later in the morning I’d make an unhealthy decision that often included a pastry provided at a morning meeting. I started drinking meal replacement shakes while on the 24-day challenge and honestly, I plan on always having these on hand. They are easy, good, and full of vitamins and everything you need to start your day right. I could tell a difference immediately in how it woke up my metabolism.
As a busy mom like you, the morning rushes by but I no longer wait until 11am to eat again. I have a mid morning snack which continues building my metabolism. The day goes on like this with me eating every 2-3 hours. Between my frequent eating and the Advocare supplements I was introduced to, I have never felt better. Clean eating is a wonderful thing but, for someone like me, can only be done if you feel completely satisfied every time you eat.
