The house is filled with the most delicious smell you can imagine. I’m baking sandwich bread! As a newbie to “breading,” turns out it’s not that complicated! The only problem I’ve encountered so far is that the bread I bake for the week does not last more than 24 hours!
Ingredients for 1 loaf:
- 1 ¼ cups Warm water (or milk)
- 2 ¼ tsp Active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. Sugar
- ½ Tbsp. Salt
- 2 Tbsp. Melted Butter (or olive oil)
- 3 cups All Purpose Flour
Directions:
- Combine water (or milk), yeast and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Stir and let sit to bloom for 5 to 10 minutes after which the mixture should look frothy.
- Add salt and oil, stir, then add flour 1 cup at a time until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough while in the bowl for a few minutes before transferring onto a lightly floured surface for more kneading.
- Knead for a further 5 minutes, adding a bit more flour as needed until a smooth dough ball forms.
- Place the dough ball into a large lightly oiled mixing bowl, cover with a tea towel and let it rest and rise for an hour.
- Punch the dough in and knead on a floured surface for a minute then shape into a loaf.
- Place the loaf into a greased bread tin, cover with a tea towel and let rest and rise for about an hour. The bread should rise slightly above the bread tin.
8. Pre-heat your oven to 375F and bake uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes.
9. Once the bread is out of the oven, brush the top with a bit of butter or oil and allow to cool before slicing.
10. Enjoy!
Luke 22:19 “He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then He broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”
