Aww it’s Friday…take a deep breath and breathe in God’s goodness, no matter what has happened this week.
Want to know something? I’m a real mess this week. I’ve started working part time for our local school district. and last week I said “sure I can work 4 days next week with those cute little Preschoolers!”
Just one small problem…I didn’t check my schedule. I seem to be getting into the habit of doing this in the last couple months. Taking on more and more without checking my schedule, my time limits, my energy level…until my schedule is taking over me!
I am so thankful that God can bless a mess!
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3
I finally cried “Uncle!” in the middle of the week. God just smiles and says to my heart, yep here we are again, Shari..time to stop and rest and re-evaluate your commitments.
I’m so humbled and thankful that God blesses me with so many amazing opportunities, but I need to be wise and decide what is from Him and what is something that I have pursued without really hearing from Him or what looks like it may be from Him and is truly a deception to get me off of His path for me.
Sometimes it’s hard to know, especially if all of the opportunities are great ones, but you can’t say “YES” to everything that comes along. I go through phases where I say No a lot and then I go through phases where I say Yes too much! Then there are the times when I have balance and everything seems right with the universe and I feel a peace and joy that only comes from being in the will of God.
Well let me tell you…I’m not at peace, I don’t have joy and I’m a mess today! Can you relate?
What I’ve learned over the years?
I can keep going the way I’m going, saying yes, yes, yes and then it will be a big train wreck ahead. Or I can S.T.O.P. and seek God for HIS will in my days and activities. Anyone else have trouble slowing down?
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:19
Here’s the thing with God, He is always, always there for us just waiting patiently for us to reach out to Him. Our choice is….reach out or train wreck. Do you ever find yourself choosing the train wreck over and over?
Friends, it’s okay. You may be weary and you may have gotten yourself into a mess (me too!) but He’ll help us get out of it.
Yes, God can bless a mess!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
So, tell me, how do you keep from choosing the train wreck? Let’s learn together.
