Good news, there are simple things we can all do this winter season to protect ourselves against both the flu and COVID-19! Start with these 5 ways to keep yourself healthy and safe.
- Get a flu shot. The flu shot can protect you from getting the flu, or keep it shorter and milder if you do get it. Flu shots are free for children and uninsured adults. Take a moment to find a flu shot location near you or call your health provider!
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds! Sing the birthday song a few times to make sure you are washing long enough.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow (not your hands!)
- Stay home if you are sick and call your health provider.
- Wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from people you don’t live with.
Unfortunately the flu and COVID-19 share a lot of similarities and symptoms so it can be hard to tell them apart. Only medical tests can tell you if you have flu or COVID-19.
