I was recently listening to a random playlist on a music platform. A song came on by a famous pop star. In it, she sang to her friend “in heaven” and wondered if he had a favorite bar up there. She said she looked forward to him taking her there when she got to heaven.
This gal is famous for her anti-Christian stances. She buys banned books and passes them out at her concerts. She has even gone so far as to tell people to stop listening to her music if they don’t support abortion rights.
Yet, she is quite sure that she, and all her friends, are going to heaven.
This seems to be a common belief, especially by young people. You live, you die, you go to heaven. End of story. Heaven is simply a rite of passage. It’s a participation ribbon for the human race.
Except, it’s not.
Heaven is not a hotel. It’s not a right.
Heaven is a choice. A beautiful and easy choice.
God makes it so easy to choose heaven. It’s even free, but you do have to make that choice.
Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you want it broken down into easy steps:
- Admit you are a sinner (we all are).
- Repent (turn away from sin and let go of your past sins).
- Believe (that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins).
- Ask Jesus Christ into your heart and life.
So easy, right?
So easy, and yet so many refuse to take the simple steps to find the key to heaven. Their desire is to keep sinning, check into the Heaven Hotel, and keep sinning even IN heaven.
Heaven can’t be corrupted like that. Think about this, only those who have chosen God will be in heaven. Think of how wonderful that will be. Think of the pure joy of being surrounded by souls who all worship God. Think of being united with Him for eternity. I can’t think of anything more perfect.
That little music star has missed the wondrous perfection of what heaven means. She simply feels entitled to march her way into heaven and keep living apart from God. She doesn’t know that heaven is not a right, and sadly she also doesn’t know that by making the easy choice to pray, not only will her life change in amazing ways, but she will finally have the “right” to be in heaven.
Seems silly not to make that choice, doesn’t it?
Erica made a short video that spells all this out perfectly. You can even pray with her and know that you are on your way to heaven. And you can do this in your own home, your car, wherever you happen to be. If you haven’t taken that step, please take a moment to watch. Click here.
