I can’t believe it! There I was sitting at my desk and reading an old journal from years ago. STUCK AGAIN!!
Wow! Have I been praying about this issue since way back then? Just for one second, I was happy to be alone. I was glad no one else was looking at the journal with me. Talk about miserable.
Can you relate?
There is nothing worse than being stuck in a situation that seems to never change or get off the prayer list.
Are you stuck?
Sometimes I cry, silently, while the tears roll down my face. Other times I can’t help myself and can’t stop crying out loud. It’s not a pretty picture but it’s real.
I remember closing my eyes that day and asking God,
“Please, show up! I need you! I can’t do this alone.”
I knew I needed help. I longed to talk with a wiser mature woman whose walk with God was further down the road from mine and could encourage me to move forward and not look back.
God was gracious and sent me a Mentor. I couldn’t wait to talk to her the following week. I needed a fresh pair of eyes to look into my pain and a strong dose of encouragement for my soul.
You see, on my own, I wasn’t moving. I needed to admit to God and my Mentor, “I’m stuck.” I needed someone who would help me learn to keep moving forward in trusting God.
“For in him we live and move and are!” —Acts 17:28 (TLB)
Here are three valuable ways a Mentor can help us keep moving forward:
1. Seek Truth
A Mentor spends time praying and studying the Word of God and as they learn to seek God’s truth they will lead us to do the same.
To move forward and take the next step let’s begin to seek God’s truth.
John 14:6 “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
2. Know Truth
It’s very important for the Mentor to have a daily growing relationship with God, knowing His truth and His character.
To move forward and take the next step let’s begin applying the knowledge of God’s truth.
John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.”
3. Speak Truth
Speaking truth into your life is one huge step in the right direction.
To move forward and take the next step let’s begin speaking God’s truth into our own heart and mind.
Zechariah 8:16 “These are the things that you shall do: Speak the truth to one another.”
Be encouraged! Being stuck doesn’t have to last forever. Could it be that your mentor is right in front of you? Ask God to help you find the mentor He has for you.
In the meantime friend, if you find yourself stuck and discouraged allow me to whisper into your heart, “Keep moving forward one step at a time. Seek God. Seek a mentor. It changed my life forever and I know for certain it will change yours!”
