It’s that time of year when I say “Put it on your Christmas list” to just about everything.
“Mom, I need toothpaste!” Put it on the Christmas list.
“Mom, my socks have holes” Put it on the Christmas list.
“Mom, can we get my favorite chips for lunches” Put it on the Christmas list.
Too extreme? Ha! Well, one thing should that should be on your Christmas list is cutting costs by switching to Twigby!
Rebecca was compensated for this blog from Twigby,
but all opinions and experiences are her own.
By now you know that we recently got a phone for our son from Twigby. We wanted to go with the dumb phone as a starter phone and it has worked out really well for us. He has been able to stay in touch with us while learning the responsibility of phone ownership and remembering to charge it.
What I love about Twigby is they have made it so easy. The plan is affordable and they have a variety of phones no matter which season you are in. My friend Kristina is a Twigby user as well and her kids are in the smartphone stage.
No matter the stage you are in, getting your kids a phone for the first time can be a great way to teach them some much needed skills.
We raise our kids to focus on the positives, but we don’t often follow our own advice when it comes to technology. We can get sucked into only worrying about the negative all the time without remembering to look at the good stuff- like teaching our kids moderation in tech, giving them the opportunity to show us they’re trustworthy, and the independence that comes with the ability to stay in touch.
Phone ownership can give us our kids the following benefits:
Safety: Kids can reach us when they need to. This is huge.
Scheduling: I spend a lot of my life making schedules. What if they could help?? They can!
Saving Money: Tell them why you chose Twigby and how you are saving money. Eventually in life they’ll need to make these decisions!
Sanity: I find that my kids pick up on technology much faster than me and I’m not afraid to admin it’s fairly helpful.
Cell phones don’t have to be all or nothing. You can find the right fit for your family. We started with the flip phone. Many of our friends have the smartphone. Either way, you can set the parental controls you need. Make it a practice to check their phone regularly. Put time limits on talking or their apps.
This might be the Christmas that the phone gets put on the Christmas list. Whether you need one for yourself or your child, I highly recommend you check out Twigby. They can help you out with the phone and a plan that is going to make your life easier and save you money.
