The fourth of July is coming up. A welcomed day off from work to celebrate our American Independence. I look forward to staying up later than usual tonight and sleeping in tomorrow. My kids are almost 1 and 4 so sleeping in probably means 7am, if I’m lucky.
My plans do not consist of an organized red white and blue craft for my kids while I put the finishing touches on the creative and patriotic desserts and side dishes for us to enjoy later. That’s just not me! Instead, I have found a couple of easy and festive things that, as a non-crafty mom, I will be able to accomplish and feel good about. The pictures below don’t even need to be followed up with a recipe or directions! How easy is that?!

Fun Kids Project (Source: Fun-A-Day!)
While you are putting together your fruit and cheese platter you can get the kids to work on a fun project. Since it will be warm out just give them paper and red/white/blue paint and let them go crazy outside (or inside if you can brave the mess). To get extra cutesy with this one, you can give them sponges/bath puffs/cotton balls to help spread the paint all around. You can even laminate them and use them as placemats at your 4th of July picnic!
What are your plans for the 4th? Anyone more ambitious than me when it comes to crafts and snacks?
